	東京都出身。3歳でピアノ、11歳でギターを始める。大学在学中に神崎オンザロードでデビュー。 渡辺貞夫グループの全国ツアーに参加したのをきっかけに本格的にプロ活動を開始。その後、自己のグループHip Pocketsなどで活動する傍ら、矢沢永吉、アンリ菅野,中本マリ,阿川泰子、益田幹夫,MALTA、他のライヴやレコーディングに参加する。 88年、渡米。カリフォルニア州Grove School of Music作編曲科を卒業。並行して、Bernard Ighnerなどのサポート・メンバーとしてMichael White(Dr),Ricky Minor(bs),Smitty Smith(bs),Wayne Lindley,(pf)Michael Paulo(sax)などのミュージシャンと共に西海岸のライヴ・ハウス等で定期的に演奏活動を行う。 帰国後、91年ファースト・アルバム 「AZURE」を発表。（JTピース・ライトボックスのＣＦタイアップ曲含） Los AngelesにてAlex Acuna,Don Grusin, Gary Harbickとレコーディングを行い、日本でもこのメンバーを加えてツアーを行う。 2作目の 「Branche」ではストリングスアレンジを披露。フランスのパリにて録音もする。 その後、ピアニスト国府弘子とのデュオ・アルバム「Heaven」「Heaven and beyond」 を発表。ゲストにNew York VoicesやGil Goldsteinなどと共にNew Yorkにてレコーディングも行い、New York Voicesとは日本ツアーも行った。 92・93年連続でSWING JOURNAL誌の日本ジャズ・メン読者人気投票ギタリスト部門第2位を獲得。 96年には打ち込みを取り入れたハードなエレクトリック・サウンドの 「Yuman's Dance」 をリリース。2000年10月にリリースした「Book Of Colors」 ではシンガー・ソングライターとしても、新たな一面を見せ,自らのVocalも披露。続いて「Navajo Trail」,その後自身初のジャズアルバムとなる「Silent Jazz Trio」を発表。 2006年6月に、則竹裕之、松本圭司、コモブチキイチロウと共にグループ「Four Corners」でアルバムをリリース。 そして2007年9月に現在最新となる初のアコースティックソロギターアルバム"In the air"をリリース。 現在、Electric Jazz Guitar Trio、Electric Jazz Quartetを結成し、都内ライブハウスで定期的に演奏活動をしている。また、Steely Danの楽曲を演奏するPlays Steely DanやEgberto Gismontiの楽曲などを演奏するアコースティックデュオなどでも活動。そして野呂一生とギターデュオ”お気楽ギグ”で全国ツアーなどを行っている。また、弦楽三重奏(1stVln,2ndVln,Viola)とアコースティックギターでストリングス･ユニット"November Steps"を組み、日本の楽曲を取り上げてコンピレーションアルバムのレコーディングやライブも行っている。　 その他、テレビ・CF、番組等の音楽製作も手掛け、dorlis他、ヴォーカリストの楽曲アレンジも行っている。冬のソナタのNHK特別番組ではオーケストラアレンジをし、他ではビックバンドジャズアレンジもしている。

KIYOTSUGU AMANO Kiyotsugu Amano was born in Tokyo, Japan Aug17 1956. As a child he learned to play piano. At eleven he started to play guitar. He began to concentrate on playing Jazz guitar at St. Paul Univ. in Tokyo. After graduated Univ. Sadao Watanabe asking him to join the band and did one concert tour Then he started to play at Japanese Jazz and pop scene for several years. At the age of 29, he went to California and graduated Composing and Arranging Program at Grove School of Music in San Fernando Valley 1989. At that time he accompanied with Ｂｅｒｎaｒｄ　Ｉghneｒ　( who sang and wrote the famous song called 'Everything must change' on the album 'Body Heat' by Quincy Jones). with Michael White (ds),Michael Paulo,(sax), Ricky Minor (bass), Eve Evans (vo, pf), etc. And he join the band called 'Book of colors' and played at some Jazz clubs in California. He stayed in U.S.A. for one and half year and then came back to Tokyo Now he formed EJT(Electric Jazz Trio) and played at Jazz club. Alse he formed the acoustic group called "November Steps" (2Violons, 1Viola and guitar. 4piece group. Performing some Japanese traditional songs combined with western harmony) and Jazz Fusion group "Four Corners". Now he accompanied with Katsumi watanabe,Sadao Watanabe,Coba,etc. He is doing many studio works and he played at many albums like (EAST WIND, ISLAND, RIVER, RAINBOW) of "Pacific Moon Record" He plays versatile in style, Jazz Fusion, Funk, Rock, Flamenco, Salsa, Brazilian stuff.
